Yid Vicious
Don your festive finery and join Yid Vicious and Elm Duo for a Purim party to benefit humanitarian aid efforts in Ukraine. We'll celebrate the creativity and resilience of Ukrainian culture with drinks and dancing, fueled by klezmer music including tunes originating from the Ukraine/Bessarabia region. And in the spirit of Purim, there will be ample opportunity to cheer for the heroes and jeer at the villains.
The father-daughter Elm Duo (elmduo.net) has been performing together for over a decade. Award-winning vocalist and fiddle champion Eleanor Mayerfeld (the EL in Elm Duo) and the guitarist and prize-winning composer Mike Bell (the M in Elm Duo) perform folk cabaret, an eclectic blend of acoustic music from bluegrass to jazz to klezmer and more.
Yid Vicious was formed in 1995 in Madison, WI in order to ameliorate the woeful dearth of klezmer in America's otherwise pleasant heartland. Indoors and out, at weddings, at Bat AND Bar Mitzvahs, on flatbed trucks, in ramshackle bars and luxurious ballrooms, on high festival stages and on bare sod, Yid Vicious has driven crowds into flurries of freylekh-fueled dancing fury.
