NOAH HAIDU TRIO
Jazz pianist Noah Haidu will bring his New York-based trio to perform in concert on Saturday, September 22, at 7:30 p.m. at the Phippsburg Congregational Church.

Through appearances at iconic New York venues including The Blue Note, Birdland, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and a busy schedule of dates on that citys jazz scene, Noah Haidu has quickly become one of the jazz world's most celebrated new performers.

Haidu was named a Rising Star by Downbeat Magazine and JazzTimes, while New York Times writer Giovanni Russonello described him as A performer with focus and vision. His
CD release Infinite Distances (Cellar Live) was hailed as one of Downbeats Albums of the Year in 2017. The CD release show at Birdland sold out while Infinite Distances surged into the top 50 radio charts.

A pianist and composer, Haidu embraces the idea that 21st century jazz can be adventurous, fresh and swing hard, that a modern pianist can play memorable melodies and soulful grooves. Jazzwise described him as Unquestionably one of the most confident and impressive of all the new pianistsan important new talent. Downbeat called his music beautifully wrought.

His 2011 album Slipstream caught the attention of national critics at the Financial Times, JazzTimes, and Icon Magazine. It ended up receiving significant air play and logged eight weeks in the top 50 national Jazzweek charts.  Haidu's second release, Momentum, was his first trio recording. A tour for that album found The Noah Haidu Quintet sharing the bill with the Branford Marsalis Quartet at the Silver Spring Jazz Festival in Maryland. Haidus performance was filmed and broadcast as an hour-long TV special.

In addition to international appearances that have taken him from Norway to Istanbul to Ecuador, Haidu has also appeared and recorded with jazz heavyweights such as Mike Stern, Jeremy Pelt, Ambrose Akinmusire, Benny Golson, Jon Irabagon, Eddie Henderson, Billy Hart, Duane Eubanks, and Winard Harper.

The concert will be performed at the historic 1802 Phippsburg Congregational Church, situated on the banks of the Kennebec.

The Phippsburg Congregational Church is located at 10 Church Lane (at Parker Head Rd.) in Phippsburg.  Admission at the door is $15, students $8.  $12 advance tickets are available via BrownPaperTickets.com  Refreshments will be served.  Doors open at 7:00 p.m.
