Cornish Preparatory Dance Company at Cornish College of the Arts present the Nutcracker. Students from age 6 to 18 bring this classic story to the stage with heart and a bit of humor. The essence of the Nutcracker tradition is brought about in the telling of this story, giving students the opportunity to participate in a classical ballet with competence while at the same time honoring their particular talents.
This telling of the Nutcracker brings to life a charming party scene with occasional bits of humor, followed by an exhilarating battle scene revealing a growing tree, smoke, explosives and small scary mice. Act 1 closes with a serene yet invigorating dance in the Snow Scene. Act 2 begins with the steadfast Pages escorting you into our Magic Kingdom and the many delightful diversisments performed for Clara. The evening finishes with Claras dream coming to a close with the help of her favorite friend, Drosselmeyer.
