Flyover States, Marie Schumacher & the West Coast Players
Flyover States is the musical duo made up of Aaron Elliott and Steven Patton. Aaron and Steven have been playing and singing together for over ten years in various choirs, bands, and vocal ensembles. While Aaron and Stevens band Andrews Ave. lets them fulfill their rock needs, Flyover States was created to explore their folk interests, allowing for more complex vocal arrangements and harmonies. Aaron and Steven met in college in Des Moines, and immediately made a musical connection. Together theyve toured extensively and moved across the country to Portland, where they have continued to make music, teach, and write together.
Marie Schumacher is a seasoned vocalist, guitarist and pianist who writes lyrical, finely-crafted songs with rock, Latin, R&B and Americana elements. Her influences include the Pretenders, Aimee Mann and the Cowboy Junkies. Marie is backed by a rootsy, versatile band that brings mastery and expansiveness to her soulful, literary tunes. Originally from the Boston area and an East Bay gal in the 90s, Marie is founder and artistic director of PDX Vox, Portlands community a cappella program. Playing with Marie are long-time collaborators Steve Gibson (guitar), Jeremy Steinkoler (drums), Steven Patton (keys and vocals) and Aaron Elliott (bass and vocals).
