ARTIST BIO
Jay Smith (Biatch) is an American original. Born J.P. Smith in Modesto,CA in the late 1900's. A song stylist in the great musical traditions of Bill Murray, Robert Downey Jr., and Ice Cube. Jay can take any song, from 'Keep on Loving You' by REO Speedwagon to 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' and make it his own and then make you dance to it! Ya! YOU WILL DANCE!
Jay grew up listening to a variety of music; "K-5" (102.3 FM Modesto) and "Hometown Prairie Companion" broadcasts, 78rpm recordings of Zorro stories and Beatrix Potter tales, and the inspired gospel music of the St Josephs Catholic Church. He also spent hours hiding behind the bar Sunday mornings after breakfast at Tiny's Frontpage soaking up the smells of liquor and tobacco, the sounds of the juke box, some dice cups slamming and slurry bellows of laughter and obscenities...and then came the dream becoming an entertainer in such an establishment.
Jay took these different forms of noises, smells, and unbelievable sights to combined them to create a style completely his own but only in music and words. Not so much smells. An innovator and creator in a world of imitators and thieves, Jay Smith, will be remembered similar to other great people like Kid Guitar, Joseph Lister, and Kaljo Raid, but more as one of the true fathers of egotism, vanity, conceit, and simple selfishness and not so much the creator of mouthwash and concertos.
Although Jay feels he is usually improperly interpreted and unappreciated...The numbers don't lie. And neither do the crowds responses. In the last 4 years, Jay has toured to every corner of the United States and savagely "Beast'd" on every mic and crowd he has ever been in contact with.

"...novelty rapper Jay Smith...channeling his inner Blues Brother, gave the evening's most raunchy, slurry performance...with accompanying hip thrusts. Way to class up the joint, buddy."....- mrowland@modbee.com
