|Students hold a 10-day Pledge Drive for their nationally-acclaimed public|
Brown Paper Tickets will match the first $1,000 in donations.
October 31, 2012 (Seattle) Seattle high school students are asking for $140,000 in 10 days, as part of a pledge drive for the public radio station that they operate out of Nathan Hale High School, C-89.5 KNHC-FM. Brown Paper Tickets has pledged to match the first $1,000 in donations.
Named "the largest and most influential educational radio station in the country," by Rolling Stone magazine, C89.5 serves over 250,000 loyal listeners in the Pacific Northwest, and is streamed by more than 220,000 individual IP addresses on the World Wide Web. The student-run station, known for being on the cutting-edge of dance music, is one of only 8 stations nationally that determine the Billboard Top 40 in Dance Music.
"Our biggest audiences are here in the Pacific Northwest, London, Germany and Brazil," said Gregg Neilson, General Manager at C-89.5. The station was also named "Best High School Radio Station in New York" by the Village Voice, due to the C-89.5's Internet audio stream.
The Nathan Hale High School students will be accepting donations in any amount, and also giving away CDs of the radio station's content for a donation of $89.50. Supporters can either call (206) 421-8989, or log onto https://secure.acceptiva.com/?cst=ca0d5f and make a donation online to help them to reach their goal. Seattle-based Brown Paper Tickets, the Not-Just-For-Profit ticketing company, will match 100% of the first $1,000 in donations.
"Brown Paper Tickets got its start ticketing dance music events in Seattle more than a decade ago and has been actively involved in the community ever since," said William Jordan, President of Brown Paper Tickets. "Growing up in Seattle in the early 90's, C-89.5 was one of the few place to hear the new and fantastic dance music that was coming out of places like Chicago, New York, Europe, and the UK. Although the Internet has made the world a smaller place, C-89.5 and its specialty shows continue to push the boundaries of cutting-edge dance music. It's really the only radio station in the city that offers this kind of programming and is an amazing example of what public radio can do."
Brown Paper Tickets is the world's only ticketing and event registration company to donate 5% of profits as a part of its Not-Just-For-Profit business model. To learn more about Brown Paper Tickets, call the 24/7 customer service hotline at 1-800-838-3006, or go to http://www.BrownPaperTickets.com.
