Conscious Collectors Co-op 2022 Fall Foray
Fall is just around the corner, delicious wild mushrooms will soon begin to emerge in the forests of the PNW. Many will flock to the woods to find a tasty treat to bring home. Lobster mushrooms, porcini, hedgehogs, chicken of the woods, and one of the most iconic wild mushrooms of the PNW, the chanterelle. Loved by mycophiles and chefs alike, they are a PNW staple. These foraged mushrooms can fetch high prices at the store, farmers' markets, and restaurants alike. Chanterelles are no execption.
During the foray Dan and Matt will dive into the specifics of finding, identifying, and harvesting chanterelles, as well as other mushrooms we find along the way. Discussions about their season, habitat and visual characteristics will help you to better understand when and where to find this choice edible mushroom. After the foray you'll be treated to a 5 course Italian meal at a private community center on Lake Washington!
Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and confidence to forage your own mushrooms and build community with others that share the same love for mushrooms, foraging, and delicious food that we do!
Food menu contains dairy, gluten, and meat (no substitutions).
Rain or shine - please have appropriate rain gear and a change of clothes/shoes.
Participants must be physically able to hike through the woods for multiple hours.
5 tickets are available for the dinner only portion of this event.
