Dear friend, It was a pleasure to welcome in the Jewish New Year with you during the course of services with MAQOM. It was exciting to see a growing, multi-generational attendance; we ranged in age from under 5 to 90! (Happy birthday LS!) Over twenty of us welcomed Rosh HaShanah together, and we numbered over thirty on Yom Kippur morning. You were gracious in your response to the services for their style no less than substance. Your appreciation is in turn itself deeply appreciated. Many of you visited the Devotional Room on the third floor on Yom Kippur morning. You had the opportunity to check out our newly discovered home for a monthly Shabbat gathering, and had positive responses to what you saw. How wonderful it is the added benefit of the Bahai Centers location makes these gatherings more accessible to a wider geographic reach beyond Loudoun County. It is exciting to see MAQOM reach this point, poised for meaningful and sustainable presence in Northern Virginia. As promised, this email provides you the opportunity to express your appreciation for the High Holy Day gatherings, and offer your support to help MAQOM grow its place in Northern Virginia. The Community Rabbi Foundation is a registered 503(c) organization, and your contributions are tax deductible as per current regulations and laws. Please note MAQOM in the memo of your check so that Rabbi Bonny can earmark your gift for grants specifically to help fund our efforts. Rent, food for kiddush (!), materials and supplies, etc. are all designed to operate on the graciousness of your tzedaqah support. Please direct your donation to: Rabbi Bonny Grosz Community Rabbi Foundation Attn: MAQOM 13608 Legacy Circle Apt. A Herndon, VA 20171 Rabbi Bonny knows I want to acknowledge each of your gifts, and not just for your tax records. If you would rather remain anonymous, it will be reported to me as such. In either case, you are encouraged to find the level of support that makes you feel great about your gift. I promise they are all deeply appreciated at all levels. Our liturgy notes that this is the season for teshuva (return), tefillah (prayer), and tzedaqah (righteous actions). So far, youre two for three with MAQOM; youve returned to experience meaningful Jewish prayer. I thank you in advance as you complete the trifecta. May our world and our lives be blessed with life, health, goodness, sweetness, and peace.

High Holy Days 2022
MAQOM Offers Free Jewish High Holy Day Gatherings in Loudoun County

MAQOM A Jewish Place Prayer is excited to offer free Jewish High Holy Days services and gatherings for the upcoming 2022 High Holy Day season. Services will be conducted by Rabbi David Greenspoon, and feature a mix of traditional prayers and contemporary takes on the themes of the season. There will be no fundraising, and no politics. Everyone is welcome to attend the gatherings, hosted at the Bahai Community Center in Sterling. The beautiful facility is fully accessible, with plenty of easy on-site parking.

Our gathering schedule is:
Monday, September 26th 10:00-12:00 Rosh Hashanah services with Torah reading, followed by Tashlich at 1:00 at Algonkian Regional Park (tbc) in Sterling.

Tuesday, October 4th; 6:00-6:30 Pre-fast byo picnic dinner (no alcohol please, per contract with our host) followed by Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur evening services, 6:30-8:00.

Wednesday, October 5th; 10:00-12:00 Yom Kippur morning services with Torah reading, including Yizkor remembrances.

The generosity of an anonymous donor allows everyone who wishes to join the gathering without concern for a ticket. Our only constraint is the beautiful sanctuarys limited seating capacity; there are less than 300 seats total in the sanctuary. We want to make sure that your seat is ready for you; we ask that you register to help us welcome everyone. Registration information will be posted soon. You will be able to indicate which of the gatherings you wish to attend, and let us know how many will be joining you. Please feel free to reach out to Rabbi Greenspoon with any questions at jewtique@gmail.com.
