More info below: Friday we will have the honor of a friends and family sneak peak of local fimmaker Randall Nickerson's feature documentary, Ariel Phenomenon. Ariel Phenomenon explores an African extraterrestrial encounter witnessed by over sixty schoolchildren in 1994. As a Harvard Psychiatrist/professor, a BBC war reporter, and past students investigate the amazing incident, they struggle to answer the question: What happens when you experience something so extraordinary that nobody believes you?

Many who have seen it think this is the film to cross over into the mainstream as it's a very charater driven story, told with compassion, and not about sensationalism and jump scares. 8.5 on IMDB. Dan Aykroyd-Actor I enjoyed the film greatly, It puts the issue in a touching, emotional place.
Leslie Kean, Nytimes journalist/author- Ariel Phenomenon is a unique and moving film made with humanity, honesty and a sense of awe. I highly recommend it.
Douglas trumbull- director/special effects supervisor- 2001: A space Odyssey, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Blade Runner, Tree of Life. the most effective story told on the subject I have ever seen.
Following the 85 min feature will be a Q & A With Director Nickerson as well as the film's co-writer and Editor, Christopher Seward.
Saturday will be the main event, the screening of the 2022 Ashfield Filmfest shorts! While we do have a fair number of entries from last year's postponement, and we know of several being made, we would love a few more from our friends and local community. We also wanted to remind everyone that we have a First time Filmmaker category for all the apsiring Orson's out there, as well as adding a social media length 2 minute or less category to open the festival up to newer and popular forms of expression. We strongly urge young people to send in their entry and see themselves on the big screen, not to mention having a shot at numerous cash prizes. 7 of our past youth filmmakers have gone on to professional careers and we are very proud of their success and continue to suport them.
