Please join Chicago Democratic Socialists of America for the 63rd Annual Eugene V. Debs-Lucy Gonzalez Parson-A. Philip Randolph Dinner & Party. Better known as "the Debs Dinner", our annual gala is returning after a pandemic hiatus. Get ready for a night of celebration as you join your comrades and allies to celebrate the successes of Chicago DSA, socialism, and leftist organizing across the city.

The Debs Dinner is a long standing tradition within Chicago socialism, having been taken over by Chicago DSA in the 1980s and dating back to the 1950s. We cordially invite DSA members, friends, allies, and comrades of all stripes as we celebrate the great accomplishments of our organization and others across the city in our on-going struggle for progress. As part of the event, we will be honoring notable labor and community organizing campaigns with awards as well.

Each ticket purchased includes entry to the event, a plated meal, access to the open bar, and a night of entertainment. You may also purchase a Solidarity Ticket to donate entry to another comrade, which will be allocated via raffle.

We will be honoring two amazing groups who represent the promise of working class organizing in Chicago. Our Lucy Gonzalez Parsons Award for Community Organizing is given to an individual or organization who has succesfully organized their communities for change. The A. Philip Randolph Award for Labor Organizing recognizes a successful labor campaign or struggle in the Chicago area. This year, we are so please to be honoring the Chicago Abortion Fund for their on-going work in defense of abortion and reproductive rights and the Nabisco workers of BCTGM Local 1 for their success contract campaign and strike last year.

This year's keynote speaker is Alderwoman Jeanette Taylor of the 20th Ward. Born and raised in Chicago, Jeanette has been a lifelong community organizer fighting for a better tomorrow for her children and our communities. In 2019, she was elected as alderwoman of the 20th Ward, a position she is running for once again. As alderwoman, Jeanette was part of the historic slate of DSA-endorsed socialists and has valiantly fought for a community benefits agreement in Woodlawn, better affordable housing, and the health and safety of her constituents. Famous for, amongst other things, her demands for cake, not crumbs, Jeanette is a tireless advocate for the working class and a true representative of modern socialism. Previously, she has served on the local school council at Mollison Elementary and was a leader of the successful hunger strike at Dyatt High School.
