Event
"Sights & Sound"
This family friendly event is an interactive musical experience for all ages. Paint in response to what you hear!
Outdoors at the Pete and Toshi Seeger Riverfront Park, Beacon, NY, (map)
Performance featuring the New MUSE 4tet. Bring your own supplies or work with materials provided by Compass Arts Creativity Project.
The great Duke Ellington once said "I hear a note by one of the fellows in the band and it's one color. I hear the same note played by someone else and it's a different color. When I hear sustained musical tones, I see just about the same colors that you do, but I see them in textures. If Harry Carney is playing, D is dark blue burlap. If Johnny Hodges is playing, G becomes light blue satin"
At the event, you may choose to paint collaboratively with other audience members on one of our large scale canvases, or select your favorite from a range of provided drawing materials to work independently. Either way, we ask you to consider the question "what do you see when you listen?"
This is a FREE concert, but you must make reservations.
NOTE: Please reserve only for those that will be participating. For example, if a parent and child will be working together, then only one reservation is required.
Limited to 60 participants at each show.
This family event is presented by the Howland Chamber Music Circle, Compass Arts Creativity Project and the Howland Cultural Center.
