JUSTIN DILLARD ORGAN TRIO WITH ISAIAH COLLIER AND MARCUS EVANS
Justin Dillard
Born and raised on the west side of Chicago and attending both Vandercook College of Music and The Velvet Lounge; his studies at both institutions gave him the honorable privilege to work with innovators locally and globally performing/recording with and/or receiving tutelage from the likes of: Branford Marsalis, Robert Irving III, Ornette Coleman, the late jazz master Von Freeman and Roscoe Mitchell to name a few. Howard Reich (Chicago Tribune arts critic) writes: A new generation of jazz improvisers has emerged in Chicago in recent years, but few are more promising than organist/pianist Justin Dillard. Musically, Dillard tends to be all over the keyboard, drawing upon the examples of virtuosos such as Dr. Lonnie Smith, Eddie Harris and McCoy Tyner. But theres something more to Dillards work as well; a quest for new ideas in music, in the manner of his AACM mentors. Justin has performed on national television (ABC) with his organ expose The DOT; and has played in various genres spanning Avant Garde with the late tenor master Fred Anderson to a Dave Matthews tribute band (Crash). He continues to transform his career by composing for and peforming with his vast array of ensembles; all while accompanying great musicians all over the world. Stay tuned

Marcus Evans

Marcus can currently be seen performing throughout the Chicagoland area and around the world with various groups as well as with his own group, "The m.e.tet."

Isaiah Collier
Isaiah Colliers musical journey began on South Side of Chicago. Born into a musically inclined family, Isaiah sought to command his own space and develop a deeper connection to the music. He began at piano but soon became a multi-instrumentalist. Collier is most known for his work as a saxophonist, and in addition to him being a drummer as well.

At age 12 while performing the Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie song Night In Tunisia Isaiah experienced a musical transformation. One in which a higher force took over. This connection within music serves as a guiding light as he navigates the grittiness of the inner city. This can be heard in his playing as a stoic fury translates life into his sound. Isaiah remains a constant student of music in all aspects theoretically, technically, and sonically.

Collier's sound and approach is drawn from the influences of other masters saxophonists such as John Coltrane, Roscoe Mitchell, Wayne Shorter, Ari Brown and Gene Ammons. Creating art without expectations and art that extends beyond himself is the approach he takes with great intention. Whether in the setting of a performer, composer, arranger, curator, activist, motivational speaker and/or educator, Isaiah is driven to serve that higher force completely.

Through the early stage of his career Collier has shared the stage with many musicians both locally and internationally. With Artists such as Chance The Rapper, Lewis Nash, Waddada Leo Smith III, Antonio Hart, Junius Paul, James Carter, Rene Marie, Carl Allen, Paul Rogers, Bennie Maupin, Rudy Van Gelder, Angel Bat Dawid and many more.
In addition to Collier playing at Venues and festivals from notable places such as The Jazz Showcase, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, Lithuania Jazz Festival, The White House, Chicago Jazz Festival, New York Winter Jazz Festival, The Hyde Park Jazz Festivals, Sons D'hiver Festival(Paris), The Logan Center, The Harris Theatre, U.S Embassy(Paraguay).

Collier is also a former fellow of the prestigious Dave Brubeck Institute Stockton,Ca. In addition to being one of the last musician's to work with the late Rudy Van Gelder. The project would later win a downbeat award in 2016 after his passing.

His most well known work is with his group "Isaiah Collier & The Chosen Few". Their most recent project "The Unapologetic Negro" (2019) and their first release "Return of The Black Emperor" (2017). In addition to receiving a Five Star Review from Downbeat Magazine on his new project "Cosmic Transitions", recorded at The Legendary Rudy Van Gelder's Studio(2020).

In each occurrence of his musical experience Isaiah enlightens as he reaches for a deeper meaning in is harmonic and rhythmic approaches in composition and performance. Collier remains driven to take the music further and the carry new lessons into the tradition of music as we know it.
