Love, a state of grace
"Love, a state of grace" is a four-day performance installation from February 11 to February 18, 2022, at San Francisco's Grace Cathedral. The performance will be presented in 30-minute cycles repeated over 3 hours, during which the audience may move freely within the Cathedral. With over 100-foot ceilings, stained glass, and multiple chambers, Grace Cathedral will provide a multifaceted platform of many vantage points for the audience.

Live Audio Description and Haptic Access Tour by Gravity Access Services for visually impaired audience members will be hosted on Friday, February 18, 2022. Haptic Access Tour begins at 6:00 pm and Audio Description begins at 7:00 pm. Please pre-register for the Haptic Tour or reserve a headset by contacting us at (415) 822-6744 or office@zaccho.org.
COVID SAFETY: All patrons 12 years old and over must show proof of full vaccination (2 weeks after receiving final dose) prior to entry at Grace Cathedral. Additionally, all patrons will be required to wear masks inside Grace Cathedral regardless of vaccination status. We appreciate everyone's participation in helping us to safely bring live performances back to the Bay Area.
Choreographed and directed by Joanna Haigood, "Love, a state of grace" will feature six of the Bay Areas most talented aerial dancers who will interact with original props created by collaborating designers Wayne Campbell and Sean Riley. These props include an anchored 90-foot ladder and 70-foot swinging pendulum, each a unique response to the rhythms and height of Grace Cathedrals Gothic design. Composer Walter Kitundu's sound score will incorporate recorded material, the activation of live acoustic instruments within the space, the Cathedrals massive pipe organ, and voices of a small choir, all in conversation with the Cathedrals cavernous interior space and prolonged reverberation. Theologians Yohana Junker and ClaudÃo Cavalhaes will design a series of meditations and small rituals that the audience may engage throughout the Cathedral.
