Construction cost estimating is the art and the science of accurately determining the overall cost of a construction project. In a world rife with harmful cost overruns this skill is essential for both large and small projects. This class will explain how to approach construction cost estimating and establish a successful cost estimating program that takes into account changing project realities and reflects economic factors, as well. This allows healthy, financially-sound building projects to become a reality. Become familiar with basic logic and procedures involved in cost estimating, including utilizing methods of predicting future expenses. Master life cycle cost analysis. Be able to compare different design options and their relative cost. Describe best practices in cost estimating for budgeting, cost controls and bidding purposes.
