Virtual Wilcox Weekend 2021
Please join us for Wilcox Weekend 11 - The Virtual Gathering - on three Sundays starting the evening of April 25th. After each event we'll have song circles and other really fun, interesting, and even enlightening events.
NOTE: Event admission includes access to video replays for ALL group sessions. Even if you can't watch live, you can still enjoy these wonderful community gatherings in your own time, after the fact.
April 25th at 6 PM EDT: David Wilcox + Guests Live Concert Need we say more? It's David in concert with his friends and an "after-party" afterwards.
May 2nd at 2 PM EDT: Film Discussion with Gareth Higgins Gareth will lead a conversation about Where is the Friend's House? - one of the great underseen movies, made in Iran in 1987 by Abbas Kiarostami (considered one of the greatest of all filmmakers), and ripe for rediscovery. One of the most compassionate and genuinely inspirational films ever made, Where is the Friend's House? is about a little boy, a notebook, another little boy, and the adults who (mostly) get in their way. Homework - We'll point you toward the film in advance.
May 9th at 6 PM EDT: Book Discussion, Caste by Isabel Wilkerson - facilitated by Keita Annie Whitten Foster & David LaMotte "Wilkerson has written a closely argued book that largely avoids the word racism, yet stares it down with more humanity and rigor than nearly all but a few books in our literature. . . . Its a book that changes the weather inside a reader." Dwight Garner, The New York Times Homework - you should at least start reading the book before the discussion!
PRICING: As you see above, pricing is tiered. You are encouraged to pay what you can. If you have the means, we ask that you consider making an additional donation. Help support the livelihoods of the Wilcox Weekend musicans & presenters, and help community members who can not attend Wilcox Weekend without financial assistance.
