Advanced Ceramics Studio

This class is primarily for advanced students to experience and apply more creative techniques to their existing level of expertise (learning through exposure). Most folks these days do not dig clay, they do not fire their own kilns. There is a bunch of local materials information which will be shared in this course. We will do a field trip. The students will chop wood and stoke the kiln. We will use local raw material. Dik will demonstrate advanced forming and decorative techniques, encouraging students to fully engage in the creative process.

Indulge in this opportunity to learn from experienced teacher, Dik Hotchkiss, who holds an MA in Sculpture from California State University,Sacramento, and an MFA in Sculpture and Ceramics from Washington State University, Pullman, Washington. He has taught at the College and University level since 1966, retiring from Sierra College, Nevada County Campus, two years ago. His areas of specialization are many, including: drawing, painting, art history, photography, sculpture and ceramics.

Event will take place over the course of 7 weeks, 3 days a week:
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9pm
Saturdays 10am-2pm

There is room for 8 wheel students and 2 hand building students.
