2020 LDUB Fest Saturday Noon
THE WORKSHOP 2.0 director BQ Smooth / Stacey Steele, Comedy, USA, English 2020, 45 min.

Director Biography - BQ Smooth, Stacey Steele After being in Law Enforcement for 15 plus years BQ began to study film again and assist on set as a weapons handler advisor. BQ then studied the craft with The Actors Workshop of South Florida for approximately 5 years. During that time BQ worked as an actor in films while studying theatre.

Director Statement    I wanted to share my experiences with the world that I encountered while learning the craft of acting; so I wrote The Workshop. Now the saga continues with The Workshop 2.0. I put a comedic spin on the everyday occurrences within an acting workshop that I want the audience to be a part

GAZING INTO MIDDLE SPACE  A 21st C. KOYAANISSQUATSI  director David Blair USA English 2019 27 min.
The 1982 movie Koyaanisqatsi has what can be considered painfully long shots (one - the airplane moving towards camera - clocks in at around two and a half minutes), or beautifully hypnotic ones, depending on your frame of mind. It contains a lot of fast time-lapse, but to me the beauty is in the slow motion and the little subtleties - what someone is doing with their eyes, or small motions and gestures.
This is my modern version of this movie, in a color coordinated world.

NO FEMS  director Tyler Vogel, FSU Student Filmmaker, documentary, USA, English, 2020, 7:48 min.
For feminine gay men we not only receive the pressure from society to be masculine, but also within our own community. Within the gay community there is a huge divide between masculine and feminine men. A lot of these problems root from social media where masculine men will post captions like " masc 4 masc" and "no fems" on their social media pages. We must hear human stories by those affected to be more accepting.
Director Biography - Tyler is a walking & talking encyclopedia on pop culture, he can tell you anything and everything you want to know about it. He loves to talk to new people and is a loving extrovert at his core. Born and raised in Tampa Florida, He is currently enrolled in the Florida State College of Motion Picture Arts getting his BFA in production. He loves production design and directing and hopes to one day make a career out of it. Do not be shy he loves to meet new people, just go up and talk to him, if he isn't already talking with you.
Director Statement
Being a proud gay man, I emptied my heart onto the table to tell this story and believe this is a story that must be told. For this project, I felt that it was vital to bring attention to this discrimination in the LGBTQ community. Since my community can be community full of color and extravagance, I thought it was vital to show this through my art direction. I'm extremely thankful for the individuals who helped bring this story to life. I am a dreamer and am hopeful for the years to come

THE LAST SUMMER director William Stead, FSU Student Filmmaker, Drama, USA, German w/ English subtitles, 2019, 7:40 min
In Nazi Germany, the young, closeted Ben fears for his own safety as he learns that the world he lives in is about to become even more dangerous for him and his openly gay best friend.

Director Biography - William Stead was born in the North of England. When his family decided they wanted to see the sun, they moved him to Florida when he was 9 where he chose to stay indoors and watch movies. William especially took an interest in history and yearns to explore many untold stories that exist from the past. Hes a writer/director who enjoys acting and long discussions about the 1970s

Director Statement   "The Last Summer" is an idea that goes all the way back to high school for me when I read an article about homosexual persecution in the holocaust. It took me by surprise! Never once was I taught in all the years of public schooling about any other group in the holocaust besides the Jewish people. I felt an immediate urge to bring a gay story from this era to life. Being a member of the lgbt community, I felt a great passion to dive into this incredibly sad, yet important topic. And so, there is a lot of myself in this film. The main character, Ben, is extremely uncomfortable with his sexuality in a world that rejects who he is, a feeling I know all too well. This is my first foray into telling a gay story and it is, essentially, my coming out movie as a filmmaker and a person. It also speaks to my love of historical drama and tapping to the past to comment on the present and future. My hope is that people who watch this film are informed about homosexual persecution in 1930s Nazi Germany and feel the pain of what it was like being a young queer person at the time, an isolation that can still be felt to this day.
