Deep Listening:An Inside Look At Palaver's Album "Ready Or Not"

Join Palaver cellist, Matthew Smith for a virtual deep dive into the music of Palavers upcoming album Ready or Not. He will discuss the meaning, historical context, and compositional structure of a handful of pieces on the album, which features music by women from many different styles and eras. We will discuss Maddalena Casulanas madrigal Morir non puo mio cuore (1566), Grazyna Bacewiczs Concerto for String Orchestra (1948), and Anna Clynes piece Within Her Arms (2009). Akenya Seymour will join us for a discussion of her piece Fear the Lamb, which Palaver commissioned in 2019. This class is designed for ages 15 and above.
