Get ready for Kindergarten Summer workshop
This online workshop teaches basic reading, math, and social skills to get kids ready for kindergarten either this year or next. Students can be 4-6 years.
I love teaching kids of all ages and I have a four-year-old daughter. She loves unicorns and anything glittery! She will be joining us.
It is $10 a session or $25 dollars a week per child. I know a lot of us have had financial changes recently, so if you can't pay, please email me about scholarships.
It takes place for one hour, three times a week, on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday at noon.
We start with "calendar time" where we learn the days of the weeks, months, etc and learn a welcome song and how to raise our hand and take turns. Then we'll work on a letter of the day, where we'll practice writing and reading it and learn a song about the letter. Then we'll do math where we'll learn how to count and begin to add numbers and talk about ideas like "greater" and "less than". To finish, we'll sing another song. On Friday, bring a favorite toy or object for show-and-tell and learn how to talk to others, wait your turn, and show others you're interested in their toy.
As a special education teacher, I welcome kids with IEP's and can accommodate needs as much as possible. Just contact me and describe your child's learning style. However, I can't be involved in the child's IEP process, make recommendations about special education goals, services, placements, etc. because I have a big caseload at my own school and am already very busy!
Also, a friendly reminder that I don't have any "insider" info about the next school year, district policy, etc. I try to stay away from that as much as possible and prefer not to discuss politics (There so much of it these days!). I want to stay focused on the kids!
Each class will be recorded just so I can keep track of what I taught from week to week, but the recording won't be shared, posted, or used in any other way. Also, remember that you and your background will be seen by others, so please be fully dressed and think about what is around you. :) I also reserve the right to "mute" or exit any students who are disruptive or disrespectful.
