Anchor House of Artists announces its reopening Wednesday, July 15 with a public reception July 17 for "Work Related," an installation with new sculptures by Holyoke's Peter Dellert. Preview visits by appointment.
SIGN-UP for reservations at http://anchorhouseartists for six-person half-hour tours. At the reception, self-directed, one-way visits lead to an outdoor gathering with physical distance in the parking lot behind the galleries. Use code "AHOA" at the site for sign-up. Peter Dellert (1951- ) is known for his well-crafted, odd representations from the world of work. He has an extensive list of exhibits, prestigious awards, and publication notices, and has achieved many competitive grants. This exhibit extends through all three galleries, delivering a powerful exploration of labor and justice.
As a visiting artist, Dellert installed "Work Related" encompasses a considerable body of work, some newly fabricated, some collected over time. Long in gestation, the show represents Dellert's lifetime participation and observations on work, work ethic, and the relationship between the laborer, employer, community, and society. It seeks to honor the laborer and point out the loss of "handwork" and tool use in a contemporary industrialized society ruled by AI-driven technology.
