How to Make an Alcohol Intermediary Oil: Virtual Make-Along
An alcohol intermediary oil is a special kind of infused herbal oil that uses alcohol to pre-extract, resulting in a stronger infused oil. This is an oil making method that I have fell in love with over the last year and am so excited to share with you all. I've made deep green plantain oils and amazingly aromatic mugwort oil. Amazing! Join us for this live, virtual class that will be hosted on Zoom, so you can ask your questions, show me your work, and still practice social distancing.

In this two-hour virtual "make-along" class, we will cover:

- Making alcohol intermediary oils together (you'll be in your kitchen making your own!)
- What is an AIO and how does it work
- Ratios
- equipment
- what herbs work best
- ideas on how to use the oils.

DATE: Saturday, April 11, 2020, 1pm-3pm
LOCATION: Zoom link will be sent prior to class.
TEACHER: Natalie
COST: $30.00

MATERIALS NEEDED TO DO "MAKE-ALONG" AIO:
Please gather these supplies and have them ready for class. If you are unable to find plantain leaf, you may sub rosemary leaf.

Alcohol Intermediary oil
- 7 oz olive oil (or other liquid oil)
- 1 oz dried plantain leaf (many other herbs will work if you can't get your hands on plantain leaf)
- 1 oz everclear (you need the 95% kind)
- 16 oz jar (2 cup capacity)

EQUIPMENT:
- A kitchen scale
- a measuring cup with ounces
- a blender
- fine mesh metal strainer
- cheesecloth
- An herb and spice grinder or a blender would be helpful, but not necessary.

ABOUT VIRTUAL CLASSES WITH ADIANTUM SCHOOL:

Due to social distancing measures and potential shelter in place orders, I have decided to offer some virtual classes to keep us all from going crazy. Im sure this is a new platform for some of you, so heres all the info you need to join in!

Downloading Zoom and making an account:
We will be using Zoom for this class. You will need to download the software on your computer or phone. You can do this before the class by visiting this link: https://zoom.us/. Creating an account is free!

How to join the zoom call:
I will send you a link to the scheduled conference call to the email you provide at registration. When it's time for class, you will follow that link (having already created your zoom account) and join the call. You may join with just audio, or just video. The call will start 10 minutes prior to the start of class so we can get settled in and technical difficulties worked out. I recommend using something with audio and video capabilities (phones or laptop computers work well).

How does a make-along work?
The great thing about joining virtually is that you can make the herbal preparation in your own kitchen while Im making it, thus the name make-along. Its like a sing along! I highly encourage you to do this, as it will give you the experience of making the product in your own kitchen, and you can ask questions and even show me your work (yes, Ill be able to see you!). Please see the list of materials needed and gather them before class starts.

I am so grateful for your support in this strange time! Please let me know if there are any other courses you'd like to see in this format.
