Two husband-and-wife folk-bands, Lowland Hum and Covington & Covington, are splitting their bi-coastal distance in Austin, Texas to play a joint show. Join us Saturday, April 4th for a evening of song and story.
In 1968, David and Sharon Covington (Covington & Covington) met at band practice in Southern California, pioneers and pilgrims of the Jesus movement. They soon married in a sunny park in Southern California and have been spreading love and music ever since. In the mid-80s to early '90s, they spent seven years on the road as traveling musicians, playing for over 300,000 people across the nation. Now, 50 years since I-do, they will join another folk-band and married duo, Lowland Hum, in Austin Texas for a special evening of music.
Daniel and Lauren Goans (Lowland Hum) met the Covingtons during a year-long fellowship in Eastern, Maryland, where Daniel recorded his second solo album. Daniel and Lauren married shortly after Daniel completed his fellowship, and together they formed their band, Lowland Hum. They have been making and sharing music across the country for eight years since, garnering praise from the likes of NPR, Billboard, and American Songwriter along the way. Daniel and Lauren are certain that without the Covington's example of collaboration in marriage, art and domestic life, their lives would look very different.
