SAVING MEXICAN POPULAR CINEMA: IT TAKES A VILLAGE!
A Conversation with Viviana García Besné
Sunday, April 5, 10:00pm
Tucson Museum of Art - Stonewall Community Room

Genre films - like the El Santo films of the 1960s - have carved out a place in Mexican film history. Beloved by audiences but despised by film critics, these films were largely left to decay until filmmaker, activist and archivist Viviana García Besné made it her mission to save them. Join us as Viviana discusses her personal connection to these films and shares special previews from recently restored films, including the iconic La Mujer Murciélago / The Batwoman.

Moderated by Tucson Cine Mexico Co-director/Co-programmer Carlos Gutiérrez.
