PENNSYLVANIA FIREFLY FESTIVAL (PAFF) PRESENTS THE THIRD ANNUAL: GLOW AND KNOW EXPERIENCE THE WONDERS OF THE ALLEGHENY NATIONAL FOREST.

ARE YOU UP FOR A UNIQUE NATURE AND CAMPING EXPERIENCE?
With physical distancing in place and following CDC guidelines, the Glow and Know Campout is a unique nature experience scheduled for June 24 2020 at Minister Creek Campground in the Allegheny National Forest. The event begins at 1 pm and concludes the following morning. Campsite and Meals are included. Attendees will be involved in various nature activities throughout the daytime including informative talks and guided walks about the Geology, Fauna, Flora, and Fireflies of the Minister Creek area. After a campfire dinner, the late evening program will be a viewing of the rare Synchronous firefly (Photinus Carolinus) and its unique synchronous flashing of the male fireflies.
In addition, attendees can volunteer to observe and collect data as citizen scientists and assist PAFF with their firefly research programs.
Only twelve persons lucky persons (couples encouraged) will be accepted into the Glow and Know experience to ensure a low impact, safe, and engaging event. Wearing of face masks and physical distancing (6ft) will be respected during all group activities. Participants assume all responsibility for any and all risk of possible exposure to the COVID-19. Participants will be asked to withdraw from the event if they have a fever or present other symptoms of illness. Please do not register if you have been exposed to someone diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 2 weeks.

Cost for GLOW AND KNOW is $100/person (plus service fee) which includes:

Personal face mask w/filter insert.
Minister Creek is a primitive campsite. You will need to bring your own tent and camping gear. Raingear and camp chairs are a must. We will provide all the cooking gear and firewood. There are no electric hookups or running water. There are vault toilets. There is no reliable cell service, so you can truly UNPLUG for the day.
PAFF will also provide a wireless listening device for participants to use during the programs to aid in social distancing.
This is a rain or shine event, however, it is subject to cancellation in the event of severe weather or threats to public safety. In which case, you will receive a refund. The fireflies are also highly sensitive to cold, and if the nighttime temperatures drop below 60 degrees, they do not fly.
PAFF is a registered 501(c)3 and proceeds benefit our mission to educate the public and raise awareness about all the fireflies in NW Pennsylvania and help to support the research of our interns.
