Skate Filmmaking Workshop (Ages 10-14) at Children's Film Festival Seattle
Sunday, March 1
1:00pm to 4:00pm

Location: Off-site at Stumptown Coffee
(1115 12th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122)

Age range: 10-14
* Teens 15+ who are interested in attending can email Jonah@nwfilmforum.org about volunteering at the workshop.
Capacity: 12-15 students
Cost: $45 General; $35 Members

Learn about the techniques and gear used to create skate films! Youth will get an introduction to different styles of skate filmmaking, see how various types of shots are captured, and then get to practice recording some of their own shots.

For maximum safety, instructors (not students) will be doing all the skating during filming, but students are encouraged to bring their own recording devices. Camcorders and ipads will also be provided for practice, and students will learn how fun and easy it is to make amazing skate films with phones or other cameras they have access to.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Leo BaƱuelos is a multi-faceted artist/filmmaker emerging in Seattleoriginally from Florida. Leo has been independently making skateboarding films for over 12 years, along with assisting brand's like Foundation Skateboards, Format Skateboards and Adidas footwear. Experienced and partial to film & digital cinematography, Leo believes storytelling through skateboarding is possible on any budget.

The 15th Annual Children's Film Festival Seattle is a cinematic extravaganza that celebrates the best and brightest in international films for children, including animation, feature length films, short films, and hands-on workshops. Since 2005, Childrens Film Festival Seattle has grown to become the largest and most respected film festival on the West Coast dedicated to children ages 3-16. Each year, Northwest Film Forum selects childrens films from dozens of countries, reaching more than 10,000 people during festival screenings and field trips in Seattle, and a subsequent festival tour of up to 25 U.S. venues.
