SkillSwap: An Amateur's Guide to Making Comics
SkillSwap is a barter-based education series featuring workshops on a variety of topics. There is no monetary registration fee; instead, each instructor suggests items or services they will accept in exchange for class participation.
Our volunteer instructors prepare based on how many people sign up, so PLEASE ONLY SIGN UP IF YOU WILL ACTUALLY ATTEND.
Class Description
This class will cover the basics of cartooning. This is an introductory comics class. No drawing expertise required! Participants can expect to leave class with a basic understanding of the building blocks needed to make their own comic stories. Drawing materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own pens and pencils and sketch pads.
Age restrictions
12 and up, please

About the Instructor
Travis Kurowski is an assistant professor of creative writing at York College of Pennsylvania. He has been reading comics since the 1980s, once created a limited-run superhero comic with friends in middle school, and has been teaching and lecturing about comics since 2010.
