Sunnyhill Live!: South City Jazz
South City Jazz has been playing Pittsburgh venues since 2005, showcasing the classic piano trio sounds of the 50s and 60s. The trios sound is rooted in the swinging tradition of Oscar Peterson, the contemplative classicism of Bill Evans, and the latin/calypso grooves of Sonny Rollins and Monty Alexander.

Ralph Falbo is a classical/jazz pianist and composer in Pittsburgh, and a founding member of South City Jazz. He began his training in 1980 with Bobby Cardillo and David Budway. After earning his BA in music (piano) from Notre Dame, he spent several years teaching in the Greater Pittsburgh Area.

Joseph Decker has been playing drums since the age of 12.  He developed a passion for jazz growing up outside of New York City and frequenting the jazz clubs there in the 1970s.

Pierce Cook, a native of Arlington, Virginia, began his musical career at a young age playing bass guitar in blues and rock bands in Crystal City and Washington, DC. He arrived in Pittsburgh by way of Duquesne University in 2000. After graduating in 2004, he was hired by the Mt. Lebanon School District where he currently teaches middle school orchestra.

Vocalist and songwriter Lisa Marinacci recently returned home to Pittsburgh after performing, writing and producing in NYC, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. She began working professionally at age 5 with the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera and at age 12 began performing alongside jazz guitarist Joe Negri as a featured singer at events such as Jazz for Juniors. She went on to study drama, writing and music at Carnegie Mellon University where she earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Doors open 30 minutes before the performance. Refreshments will be sold before the performance and during intermission.
