Intermediate Poly Workshop
Intermediate Poly Workshop is a series of monthly workshops where we'll tackle more advanced poly topics as a group. The idea of a topic being more advanced in poly simply stems from the fact that these topics usually arise after someone's been doing poly for a while. These groups are open to absolutely anyone of any level who wants to attend. We just won't be devoting time to covering the usual early poly subjects like jealousy or opening up an existing relationship. The only requirement for attending is your curiosity and openness to discussion.

Your workshop leader is Avi Love, a poly nonbinary queer folk who has acquired more labels over the years than you can shake a rainbow glitter stick at. Avi has been practicing poly for about 9 years, though it feels like they've only gotten the hang of it recently, and is excited to share experiences and compare notes on how we can all create more fulfilling relational structures for ourselves. Since Avi is a nonbinary queer person with extensive involvement in the kink scene, we're excited to make this a safe space for discussing all varieties of genders, sexualities, and kink identities, and many of the monthly group topics will center around these areas.

MONTHLY CLASS LISTINGS:

Boundaries and Negotiation - Tuesday, October 15th

Boundaries are hard. Communication is hard. Knowing and maintaining your boundaries with multiple existing relationships on top of a constant flow of new people is even harder. So is negotiating a relationship between two different styles of poly. How do you remain accountable to your own boundaries? How do you negotiate upfront to ensure the most solid foundation for a healthy and safe interaction? What do you do to facilitate the mutual acceptance of each other's growth while continuing to evaluate whether your relationships are meeting your core needs?  Bring your experiences and questions, and let's dive into the deep end of boundaries and negotiation.

Kink Roles - Tuesday, November 19th

You can be a protocol sub who doesn't want limitations in your connections with others. You can be a Little with one partner and a Big with another. Poly is all about the freedom to explore all of the sides of yourself with as many excited consensual partners as you want. Bringing your kink dynamics into that can be complicated but very rewarding. What have been your struggles and triumphs in bringing your poly and kink life together? Do you have multiple kink identities that you'd prefer exploring with different people? Let's talk about all the explored and undiscovered mixtures of poly and kink.

Poly Styles - Tuesday, December 17th

Do you live in the spectrums of egalitarian poly, solo poly, relationship anarchy, kitchen table poly, or any of the numerous other variants that generally don't get as much publicity? This month, let's break off the shackles of the hierarchy and dive into forms of poly meant to support completely different ways of relating. Whether you already practice one of these styles or are just curious about them, join us for a discussion on what poly is like when you've ditched almost all of the social scripts on how to form relationships.

Gender - Tuesday, January 21st

Some of us feel strongly that gender is on its way out. Some of us feel that it's expanding exponentially. Regardless of whether you think we're headed towards a thousand genders or none at all, let's talk about how your picture of gender affects your relationships. Do you choose whether to date someone based on their views on gender? Do you structure your relationships differently to avoid or subvert social gender concepts? Whether your gender is multi-term or single-term, come join a discussion on all the wonderful permutations of gender and poly.

Sexuality - Tuesday, February 18th

Sexuality and poly go way beyond group sex -- it covers the whole spectrum! Poly can be asexual, and it can also be highly sexual. Multiple partners dating each other could involve lots of group sex or very little. Let's talk about how our personal sexual needs and desires fit into how we choose to arrange our poly lives. Do you like to sleep with your partners frequently, or do you prefer your bed to be your own? Has having a high or low sex-drive affected how you choose to structure quality time? Do you need lots of physical presence from your partners, or are you ok going a while without seeing them? Join us for a discussion on how sex in poly is as varied as our own sexualities.

Spirituality - Tuesday, March 17th

Does the woo occupy a large portion of your internal experience? Have mystical experiences of any shape or size ever informed parts of your relationships? Spirituality in its most general form is a fundamental aspect of the human experience, yet it's one that we often remove from how we speak about relationships. We assign spiritual thought in relationships to superficial and judgemental majority religions, instead of examining the broader landscape of how people view a profound interaction. What does depth in a relationship mean to you? Do you consider yourself spiritual, secular, magickal, religious, or something else entirely? Let's talk about how the varied philosophies of human experience contribute to and drive our poly.
