NU:TONE Hospital Records [UK]
Since signing to Hospital in 2003, Nu:Tone has risen through the ranks to become one of the most highly respected producers in the scene, with everyone from LTJ Bukem to Sub Focus busting his tunes. Nu:Tones debut album Brave Nu World dropped in 2005 with all of the Drum + Bass hierarchy supporting it. Following this, there was the stunning sophomore Back Of Beyond, which dropped in June 2007 with critics hailing it as the perfect marriage of accelerated junglist funk and cooled-out 70s melody (DJ Mag). As the lynchpin of the Future Sound Of Cambridge crew, Dan was instrumental in getting younger brother Logistics, Commix and of course himself into the studio to produce the devastating full length Future Sound Of Cambridge 3 in 2008. In the same year, Nu:Tone submitted his Medical History in LP format. Early in 2010, Dans anthemic 12 release Hyper Hyper set the world on fire, championed by Sub Focus and featured on the Hospitality D+B 2010 compilation. 2011 also saw the release of Dans third album on Hospital; the inspired audio-visual concept Words + Pictures. Possibly Dans most ambitious project yet, the album was received very well, and the design even got a mention in The Guardian. Nu:Tone remixes are always guaranteed to please whether its the retro soul of his Spread Love anthem or the junglist wobble of his Strictly Social re-rub or his incredible remix of Adeles Rolling In The Deep or Emelie Sande Heaven. Remix-wise, 2010 saw Nu:Tone busy re-shaping New Zealand Shapeshifters Long White Cloud, Dekata Projects At Least We Can Dance and Unicorn Kids Wild Fire. During 2013 he continued his fine form of remix work as well as team up with younger brother Logistics to produce under the Nu:Logic moniker. The sum of their combined powers has led to LPs Morning Light and Everlasting Days that showcase a nebula of new sounds and techniques. Similarly, their album What Ive Always Waited For oozes the kind of soulful Drum and Bass that harks back to the foundation of the Hospital label. Few drum+bass artists command the same respect as Nu:Tone, both within the scene and across the wider dance music community, with his recent discography taking in remixes for the likes of 3 beat, Warner and Sony.Nu:Tone has stripped down and re-worked the likes of Axwell, Sandy Revera et al, with Major labels clamouring for his skills behind a mixing desk. Finally in Autumn 2014 Nu:Tone is set to release his fourth studio album. He is an artist with the kind of rich history and authority to be able to reach into drum+bass deepest past and create an album of snapshots from the many ages of jungle; his forthcoming LP Future History is a testament to this and his experience. http://www.nutone.org/ https://www.facebook.com/dannutone/ https://soundcloud.com/nutone https://twitter.com/nutone https://www.instagram.com/nutone/
BACHELORS OF SCIENCE CODE Recs/Spearhead/Liquicity/Intrigue/Horizons [CA]
Few artists to emerge from North Americas Drum & Bass culture have made such a significant or enduring impact as San Francisco trio Bachelors of Science. Formed in 2005, the group has carved out an unmistakable signature sound that spans the full emotional scope of the genre. With over a decade of memorable releases and a quality-over-quantity mindset, they are regarded as one of the most consistently innovative and sought-after remixers and producers in the industry, working with everyone from dance music legends Groove Armada, Justin Martin and Paradox to Worthy and Gappy Ranks. Over the years the Bachelors continue to defy those that try to categorize them into a single style or genre. From deep liquid over to the harder dance floor sounds of DnB, to minimal inspired 170 halftime and even sun-drenched 4/4 grooves BoS have retained their quality and a large and loyal following throughout, picking up the Beatport award for Best Drum n Bass single, and garnering steady DJ support from artists like LTJ Bukem, High Contrast, Friction, S.P.Y, Spectrasoul, Doc Scott, Bryan Gee, DJ Marky, and many more. Having released music on labels like Spearhead, Dirtybird, Fokuz, Horizons and Intrigue, in 2012 they launched CODE Recordings as an outlet for their music as well as standout productions from some of the top artists in the DnB scene. On stage BoS bring an energy and vibe that is all their own and matched by none. From top clubs like Fabric and Ministry of Sound to festivals and events such as Tomorrowland, Hospitality and Liquicity, the guys regularly perform around the world taking the crowd on a unique journey with everything from originals and bootlegs to custom edits of cutting edge tracks and past future classics. www.bachelorsofscience.com www.facebook.com/bachelorsofscience www.soundcloud.com/bachelorsofscience www.youtube.com/user/bachelorsofscience www.twitter.com/bachelorscience
