Pagode for Rose Haven with Francisco Marques and Friends
Pagodeiro extraordinaire Francisco Marques returns to Portland to lead an evening of Brazilian song in support of Rose Haven, a Women's Shelter in NW Portland. Joining him will be Alexandra Santos, Peter Fung, Anderson Reis, Esteban Diaz and special guests.
Francisco Marques is a multi instrumentalist and singer who has been studying, teaching and performing Brazilian music in Colorado for 17 years. He resides in Boulder, playing Brazilian music with Ginga, Grupo Chegando Lá, Pagode na Pedra and Sambadendé. Born in São Paulo, Brazil and raised in the United States. He is a dedicated musician and educator who is a regular part of the adjunct faculty at Naropa University in Boulder and has been teaching Samba/Pagode at California Brazil Camp for 6 years.
Rose Haven is a day shelter and community center serving women, children and gender-diverse people experiencing the trauma of abuse, loss of home and other disruptive life challenges. Rose Havens mission is to maintain a safe, respectful community while providing our guests with support and services to assist them in regaining stability in their lives.
