Orcas Cyclovia is a car-free event for bikes, pedestrians, and other movement without motorized vehicles. Wheelchairs and scooters are welcome. Orcas Cyclovia is a low carbon footprint, healthful, family and pet friendly activity for both the local community and visitors alike. This event is also a benefit for local non-profits caring for animals in San Juan County: Orcas Animal Protection Society; Island Haven; and Wolf Hollow.
Orcas Cyclovia will connect Orcas Island and San Juan County with a global and national movement, Cyclovia, a car-free program started in Bogota, Colombia, that sparked similar events in Anacortes, Seattle, Spokane, Portland, Tucson, and dozens of other US cities and towns. Orcas Cyclovia will be 9am to 3pm on Saturday, September 28, following after the Global Climate Strike called by Swedish youth Greta Thunberg. Let's move our bodies and give our cars a rest!
EVENT ROUTE: From the Orcas Post Office at 121 Killebrew Lake Road, continuing on Dolphin Bay Road, and onto Orcas Road from the Eastsound Kennels and information sign, and going to the intersection of Crow Valley Road and Orcas Road at Fowlers Way. Map here:

STAGING AREAS: For participants with wheelchairs, scooters, families with children, or those from farther away who would like a launching spot closer to the route, you can find vehicle parking here:
-Orcas Park & Ride located above the ferry booth
-Orcasong Farm parking entrance by 3050 Orcas Rd
-Judd Cove Preserve parking on Fowlers Way
Volunteer Route Guardians: Volunteers are needed for the key locations for 3 hour shifts, 9am-noon, or noon-3pm. Volunteers, please indicate interest when signing up.

Show Your Support: As a participant or volunteer, another way to show your support is by giving a donation. Proceeds will be shared equally to Orcas Animal Protection Society, Island Haven, and Wolf Hollow.

NOTE: Participants are advised to be aware of and yield to vehicles needing emergency access. Residents and travelers along the route are kindly asked to use caution 9am to 3pm and refrain from or reduce vehicle use for emergencies only.

CONCESSIONS:
- Boathouse Ciderworks has special offers for participants: free hot chai or mulled cider!
- Orcasong Farm welcomes participants to enter at 280 Dolphin Bay Rd, to visit, enjoy a free lavender spritz, and other items for sale including ice cream and sorbet!
- Orcas Golf Course has special offers for participants: $1 off drinks and 9-hole golf for $25 with free clubs!
GREAT ISLANDS CLEAN UP:
For those who want to multi-task to help the earth, we will have garbage bags, gloves, and safety vests available at three locations on the route (east of Orcas post office by Bayhead Rd; north of Eastsound Kennels; and the intersection by Fowlers Way). Let's join in the county-wide Great Islands Clean Up happening 10am-2pm the same day!
