TIDE Training with Tarah Fleming - Dialog 4
Opposition to conversations, programs and systems that prioritize equity and inclusion are alive, well and currently growing. One our biggest challenge today is staying at the table to share our experiences, hopes and fears. We live in a polarized time where media allows us to stay isolated from different opinions. This disconnection decreases our ability to create community and establish sustainable systems of equity in our schools and other important spaces. This workshop will face the difficulties of negotiating dissenting voices fearful of progress. We will practice techniques successfully used by movements throughout history such as physiological awareness, inquiry models, heart and head philosophies and deconstructive listening. Through storytelling, role play and activities from Theater of the Oppressed we will practice our messaging and advocacy skills to support those in resistance, and to strengthen our abilities to sustain and grow our movements.
