Club Draw Presents Les Filles De Illighadad
Club Draw is excited to bring all the way from the edges of the Sahara in Niger, Les Filles de Illighadad. Leader, Fatou Seidi Ghali, is one of the only female Tuareg guitarists in Niger. Her and her group are taking traditional 'tende' celebration music of the past and recontextualizing with modern electric guitar sounds of Niger and beyond. The group's droning hypnotic rhythms, call and response vocals, layered guitars and the steady beat of a calabash drum submerged in water make for a sound that has not been heard before.
Opening will be the exceptionally layered and shapeshifting sounds of songwriter MSL.
We will also have live painting and art creation during the performance from Club Draw members and Vick the Bruiser will be DJing between sets.
