BRING IT ON: THE MUSICAL
What happens when we stop fearing our differences and start celebrating them?
When Campbell is transferred from her ideal life at Truman High School to the inner city Jackson High School, she meets Danielle. Things goes exactly as you'd expect when a black woman meets a white woman and both of them are filled with fear and mistrust for the other based on their skin color. But, they soon learn that the differences they fear are actually things that they need to be stronger. They find that each of them has a strength the other needs. Campbell knows how the school system works, she has no problem working with adults to get what she needs. But, as a cheerleader, she has trouble earning respect from her peers. Danielle has never had a problem commanding the respect of her peers, but has had trouble navigating her way through a world where her color and status have made it difficult to navigate into the adult world. Together, they form a strong union that lifts up the entire school. A bond so positive and so infectious, students from both schools come on board and find common ground.
They celebrate their differences and create beauty all around them.
