JOY OF DANCE (FALL 2019)

Drop your inhibitions at the door, and let's DANCE! Each class will begin with a full body warm-up to engage all the muscles in your core-geous body. Then, we'll focus on foundations of dance to improve your lines, transitions, and flexibili-tease on stage. Free your body, free your mind and find your JOY of dance with Joy Coy!

About the Instructor:
Known as the "personification of sunshine and seduction", JOY COY is a burlesque performer, strip-teacher and producer based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A transplant to the Twin Cities, Joy got her start in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she produces the New Mexico Burlesque Festival, coming back for the second year in February 2020. She is also the co-producer of Naked Girls Reading Twin Cities. A classically trained dancer with a flair for theatrics, this plant powered pixie is best known for her flexitease, nerdlesque productions, and bewitching themes.

THE TWIN CITIES BURLESQUE ACADEMY, (formally Playful Peacock) the first school of its kind in the Twin Cities, was founded by Ophelia Flame and Gina Louise, who have been performing together since 2003 and teaching burlesque workshops since 2005. The belief that there's a bit of showpony in all of us is the drive behind their mission: to teach burlesque technique, performance, and history while encouraging self-expression and body confidence, welcoming students of all levels and backgrounds. The Academy offers performance opportunities, bachelorette parties & special events.
