BURLESQUE 1: Burlesque Beginnings (Fall 2019)

Welcome to burlesque! This 4-week series is an inviting introduction to the world of burlesque and is geared toward all levels. You'll learn vocabulary, classic burlesque moves, a bit about burlesque history, its legendary women, and even create your own stage name! This course provides a modern context for burlesque and is the foundation for all other classes we offer. No dance experience necessary. No prerequisite. Register in advance and save!

About the Instructor:
FLEUR DE LITA has been performing since 2014 as a soloist and a member of The Ladyslippers. She has performed Burlesque and Cabaret throughout the Twin Cities, including The Minneapolis Burlesque Festival, Top Drawer Burlesque Expo, Emporium of Frolics and Romps and Kiss of Fire Cabaret. As an alumni and graduate of the Twin Cities Burlesque Academy (Playful Peacock), Fleur is excited to share her passion for Burlesque and connect with students as they begin their own journey.

Formerly known as The Playful Peacock Academy, THE TWIN CITIES BURLESQUE ACADEMY is Minnesota's the first school of its kind. Founded by Ophelia Flame and Gina Louise, who have been performing together since 2003 and teaching burlesque workshops since 2005. The belief that there's a bit of showpony in all of us is the drive behind their mission: to teach burlesque technique, performance, and history while encouraging self-expression and body confidence, welcoming students of all levels and backgrounds.
