6th Annual Benefit for Children in Crisis
Tickets are now available for the 6th Annual Benefit for Children in Crisis, Thursday, November 7, at Sanders Beach-Corinne Jones Resource Center, Pensacola. This charity event includes heavy hor d'oeuvres, beverages, and live music as well as silent and live auctions. Tickets are $45 per person or $40 per person for a group of six or more. Doors open at 6:00 pm.
Now in its twelfth year of operation, Children in Crisis, Inc. (CIC), a 501(c)(3), non-profit charity, proudly carries out its mission of providing homes and establishing hope for the abused, neglected and abandoned children of Northwest Florida. The CIC Children's Neighborhood was created to help address the on-going shortage of foster homes, especially for sibling groups. Since opening its doors in 2008, The CIC Childrens Neighborhood has provided a safe, secure, family-style home to 918 children. Simply stated, that is over 117,000 days and nights for children in need of a nurturing home. Importantly, at CIC Childrens Neighborhood, special emphasis is given to keeping brothers and sisters together.
As of June 2019, 47% of the children served at the CIC Children's Neighborhood are from Escambia and Santa Rosa counties with the other 53% coming from Okaloosa and Walton counties. These percentages regarding where the children come from have held steady since 2008.
The CIC Childrens Neighborhood, a beautiful family-style setting built by the generous support of our communities, provide an emergency shelter for children who are removed without notice from an unsafe environment. In addition, the landscaped campus contains five family-style homes each with full-time house parents for young children. Transitional housing is also available to help prevent young adults aging out of the foster care program from becoming homeless.
