JOYRISE Ecstatic Dance & Cacao Ceremony
Join the Harrisburg Dance commUNITY for a special Ecstatic Dance inspired gathering as the sun sets & full moon rises. Move with us around the fire at the sacred land at Amethyst Retreat Center.
We begin in a opening circle, start with light, guided movement, transition into freeform movement & end in a closing circle. We dance to diverse, uplifting world music.
An optional cacao ceremony will be hosted by Rebekah Joy at 6:30pm. Pre-registration is required to attend this portion.

New to cacao ceremony?
Raw ceremonial grade cacao has been used for centuries to unlock euphoric states, release negative emotions & connect to pure heart energy. It is the PERFECT compliment to social dance settings opening the heart & connecting one to themselves, others & something greater. ð
We source our cacao from Sacred Weavers in Chiapas, Mexico. This organic, ceremonial grade cacao is grown at the foot of a volcano in the jungle of Chiapas.
THE DAY OF THE CEREMONY:
Drink lots of water, avoid coffee and/or alcohol, and eat lightly. Best to come on an empty stomach (2 hours after eating) to enjoy the full magic of the cacao :)
TO FULLY EXPERIENCE CACAO:
*Fasting before a ceremonial dose is not necessary and is not recommended as an empty system may accelerate assimilation and bring on bitter-related nausea. Normal or light eating a few hours beforehand is fine. A full stomach is NOT recommended.
*Please bring extra water than you normally drink.
*Please consume a half portion (or less) if: currently taking antidepressants or psychotics, you have a heart condition, are extremely sensitive, are fasting or on a raw diet
Our ceremonial cacao is:
Sourced from heirloom varieties native to the region, known for superior flavor, aromatics, and contribution to local biodiversity
Ethically harvested using traditional hand-picking methods and sun drying process.
Supporting indigenous communities by working directly with small family farms & ensuring a living wage for everyone involved in Cacao's cultivation, which has a rich cultural history in Mexico
New to ecstatic dance?
Ecstatic Dance Guidelines
1. Move however you wish.
This is a transformational space for healing, prayer and freeform movement.
2. No talking in the dance area.
You may chat quietly away from the dance area. :)
3. Respect yourself and one another.
Listen for a "yes." Get eye contact first before dancing with another.
Listen for a "no." Hands in prayer at heart is a loving way to say, "I see you. Thank you. I wish to dance alone."
4. Take in the experience through your eyes.
In order to create a safe space for expression, please make sure you have permission before you capture photos/ video.
Ecstatic Dance is a Drug & Alcohol Free Space.
