Leslie Evers and Rick Ruskin play LilFest in Keene Valley Congregational Church, NY Saturday, Jul 27. 9
Leslie Evers is a chameleon.  In any given year she may be a movie producer (Glass Slipper, Notes on an Appearrance, Harlem Street Singer), crew, writer, casting department or instrumental in 30 some Nancy Drew computer games.  And then there's the lifetime as a singer and songwriter.  We'll concentrate on that one...

Leslie burst on the scene when her album placed in the top 10 albums for July 2014 on the Folk DJ list and had a #3 hit with Break A Little Heart. Leslie has garnered the respect & attention of presenters, audiences and other artists with her beautiful voice, clever lyrics and memorable melodies. Leslie Evers songwriting style honors many traditions and is both accessible and unique.

One quote from a fellow guitar player, Randy Frank, Knoxville, TN:

"...your lyrics are light years ahead of ANYTHING I have heard in forever. Although the subject material is different, the complexity of the lyrics, the layers, the baring of emotion, the throwing yourself open are all equal to, if not greater than, Dylan.

And, to hear Leslie live is to also hear the extraordinary guitarist, Rick Ruskin.

Rick Ruskin started playing guitar in 1962 and in just one year became a respected professional musician in his native Detroit, Michigan. In 1964, while still in Jr. High School, he was chosen to open the bill for the Reverend Gary Davis at Detroit's legendary Retort Coffee House. This engagement resulted in a fast and permanent friendship with the master blues, ragtime, and gospel guitarist. Rev. Davis was so taken by the young Ruskin's skill and eagerness, that he invited Rick to spend that summer with him at his Long Island home. By the end of the summer, Davis stopped teaching Rick new material and told him, "It's time you started paying attention to your own music." Ruskin has been doing that ever since.

"...the detail and precision of Ruskin's playing are well known among fingerpickers..." "...so brilliant at times that he seems to transcend normal approaches to the guitar....Ruskin may be the smoothest technical player around. Flashy, fast, inventive and musical and that isn't easy."- Guitar Player
