BASIC OVERVIEW

The Fleeing Artists Theatre are producing staged readings of four original, never-before-seen plays, written by local and regional playwrights.   For this set of performances, we are performing these two plays: "Beauty of Psyche" by JJ Gatesman, and "In Lieu of Flowers" by Katherine Beeson.

"Beauty of Psyche" PLAY DESCRIPTION

The story centers around the original myth that inspired Beauty and the Beast.  After being cast out of her village, Psyche finds herself rescued by an enchanting stranger.  Psyche must use her wits to connect with her captor and find her way to true freedom.  Themes of responsibility, love, and family all shine through this magical mini-epic.  Directed by EDSON MELENDEZ.

"In Lieu of Flowers" PLAY DESCRIPTION

A charming story about the importance of family.  Set in the Chatterbox Cafe, longtime owner Lou passes away unexpectedly, leaving his business in the hands of longtime waitress Fran Klein.  But, there's a twist: Fran must co-own and co-run the cafe with newcomer Joan Borden for an extended period of time, a woman whom Fran has never met and whose first appearance was at Lou's funeral.  Directed by ALEX METALSKY.
