Our critically acclaimed Detroit Women of Color International Film Festival showcases high-quality film screenings featuring award winning films by or about Black and Brown girls and women around the world. Over 5,000 people have attended or participated in DWC, Inc. film programs, presentations, and festivals since 2004. We are the only woman centered film festival in the state of Michigan. Our intergenerational diverse audiences include all racial, ethnic, spiritual, and economic backgrounds from Michigan, throughout the United States, and Canada.
Detroit Women of Color, Inc We center Black and Brown girls and women in Metro Detroit through media and community engagement by building a collective that will develop leadership and provide career and entrepreneur opportunities in the film industry.
Since 2004, Detroit Women of Color, Inc. has used film to lift the stories of girls and women of color. We believe film is a powerful tool to educate, heal, and unite our communities. We produce the critically acclaimed Detroit Women of Color International Film Festival.
