Rear View Mirror: A Contemporary Glance on Flauto d'Amore
Rear View Mirror is a project involving the creation of a new repertoire for the flauto d'amore, an instrument that, in its modern form, is completely unknown. This instrument, while originallybelonging to the Baroque era, received a modern prototype thanks to a commission by Gian-Luca Petrucci to flute maker Albert Cooper. The instrument, which is produced in very limited quantities, has no contemporary repertoire: Rear View Mirror is the first ever performance of new works written specifically for the flauto damore.
The concert features the world premiere of Nathan Hudsons Textured Air, Gleb Kanasevichs dont wake them up, Liliya Ugays Sweet Suite and Max Grafes Trio Sonata. Rear View Mirror engages composers of multi-faceted backgrounds and will provide the musical community with a new sound to explore and employ in contemporary music settings. This event will mark the first of a multifold project that is already spanning over the next three years.
