In June 1819, then President James Monroe rode in to Twickenham. His arrival was celebrated by local leaders, who immediately threw a party in his honor.
On June 1, 2019 Huntsville will again celebrate President Monroe's surprise visit - and Alabama's subsequent founding - with a fabulous dinner party. Beginning with a reception in the newly renovated Constitution Hall Park, the evening will feature entertainment by Olde Towne Brass and a full reenactment of the President's ride into downtown, followed by a tavern-style meal in the Grand Hall at Earlyworks Museum. The 24 toasts made at the 1819 dinner will be given - now 200 years later - and the community will celebrate not just Huntsville's storied past but the promising future.
Tickets are just $100 per person and totally inclusive, with a featured souvenir Toast to 200 julep cup. Family-style farm tables of 8 are available for reservation for $800.
