Darker Lotus: South Seattle Edition
This is a vinyasa/ flow yoga class set to a slow and meditative pace with doom/ drone/ sludge metal incorporated as a primary facilitator in ascension. It is designed to be heavily cathartic and uplifting.
There are several different applications and interpretations of the meditative procedure. It is offered in yoga that the mind is actively energetic with a plethora of untamed thought potential, and a calm space can be created if this brain static is directed to fixate upon enough considerations to satisfy its thirst. We anchor our mental processing upon details of the body in particular alignments, upon the location of our breath, perhaps even upon a corresponding color visual at the same time physical exertion is required to maintain the alignment. With all mental anchors therefore cast into the body, our rampant thoughts have temporary homes in which to settle, and this yields a neutral plane- a meditative space. It is explained in yoga philosophy that from steadiness of the mind only can we experience our homeostasis of expansive liberation. Therefore a physical yoga practice which commands enough attention within its subtleties to give the mind a sufficiency to think about becomes meditative and purely observant.
Regarding the inclusion of music, there is an overwhelming abundance of options for audible accompaniment to this process. The incorporation of this genre that I find personally most enjoyable for trancing out serves an interesting and deliberate purpose; intrigue enough to satisfy the minds audible processing ability while encouraging a tempo of movement that is dramatically contrary to societys urgent forward pushing... and in doing so subsequently offer a calmer pace for which the body can consider its subsurface happenings in the aforementioned calmer space. Essentially, it is tangible movement for specific bodily awareness while enjoying really excellent heavy music.
**NOTE** Location is in the connected warehouse spaces behind the ORB.
