MMA Improv - Pros with Prose
Enjoy a Mexican buffet and a show highlighting performers who are making it up as they go along. A mix of old-school improvisation and old-school poetry slammin' -- with the Anchorage-based troupe Mostly Melanin Arts (MMA) equals ... something you've never seen before!
Come out to Gallo's to see these improvisational performers match wits, making up scenes and slams live and on the spot -- while you enjoy your salsa and guac. It's a great night out to fill both body and mind with sustenance.
The Anchorage-based improv troupe MMA was formed in September 2017. The ensemble includes artists of all kinds, including singers, dancers, rapper, poets, authors and stand-up comics. Onstage together, we put those skills together as a team, delighting in creating new worlds for audiences to enjoy.
MMA Improv players create scenes using a range of improvisation games, so you never know which ones they might play. Many are the same kinds of games made popular by the U.S. TV show "Whose Line is it Anyway?"(originally hosted by Drew Carey on ABC -- and later revived with host Aisha Tyler on The CW network.) Others are ours alone.
A night out with MMA & Friends is like a good guacamole: a fresh and tangy mix of everything you love.
