5:30-6:00pm: Registration and Dinner 6:00-8:00pm: Presentation by Thomas W. Hale, RPh, PhD Dr Hale will speak on the topics of 'Using Medications in Breastfeeding Mothers' and 'Marijuana Kinetics and its Transfer into Human Milk'.
Friday, September 20, 2019 Topics on this day are remarkably useful for nurses, lactation professionals and public health workers, though all are welcome.

Thomas W. Hale, RPh, PhD Dr. Hale is Professor of Pediatrics and Associate Dean of Research at Texas Tech University School of Medicine. He is the founder and director of the InfantRisk Center, a national call center for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. He holds degrees in Pharmacy and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology and is widely experienced in Pediatric and Breastfeeding Clinical Pharmacology. He is a well known international lecturer in the pharmacology of lactation and is the author of five books including Medications and Mothers' Milk, the top selling drug reference manual in the world. His other books include: Textbook of Human Lactation; Clinical Therapy in Breastfeeding Women; and Drug Therapy and Breastfeeding. He is considered by many to be one of the world's leading authorities in the use of medications in breastfeeding women.
Joanne M. Wesley, BA, IBCLC Joanne is an IBCLC and Lactation Coordinator at Meeker Memorial Hospital. She has a unique understanding of rural and urban issues related to supporting breastfeeding. She started inpatient services and outpatient Breastfeeding Clinics at Meeker Memorial Hospital and Hennepin County Medical Center. She endorses the philosophy of each one, teach one and began a Lactation Intern Program to assist aspiring IBCLCs gain clinical experience at HCMC and continues that work at Meeker Memorial Hospital. Joanne serves on the Minnesota Breastfeeding Coalition, and two rural coalitions. She worked on the writing and passage of the 1997 MN Breastfeeding law that protects a womans right to pump in the work place and insured that there was language to prohibit pumping in a bathroom stall. She continues to work on legislation for licensure of lactation consultants in Minnesota.
