We will move to our typical wave format while wearing bandanas. Leave all attention to the external environment aside and drop profoundly into your inner world.
2:00 warm up / 2:30 circle / please be on time!
Facilitator: Ted Riskin
Participation in this event conveys your agreement to the following:
While the Seeing in the Dark experience will feel familiar to anyone who has danced with AMC, there are some important differences. Because dancers cannot see, we cannot insist on ensuring permission before making any physical contact. While deliberate inappropriate contact will not be tolerated, accidental contact cannot be avoided. If this possibility is disturbing to you, then one of AMCs regular waves would be a better fit.
Though you are ultimately responsible for your physical safety, volunteers will be helping to create a safe space for free movement. As such, by participating in the dance, you agree to follow their guidance if they should feel anything you are doing compromises that safety.
Removing all visual input can allow access to a mild nonordinary state of consciousness. Occasionally a dancer can have an insight that is startling. Are you up for that possibility? We will be sharing in smaller groups at the end of the experience to support integration of these experiences. If you still feel unsettled at the end of the process, check in with the facilitator.
Note that your level of participation is voluntary, and you are welcome to remove your bandana and/or move to a designated chill area of the space at any time that you feel unsafe.
