ARTIST BIOS:
Juliana Delgado Lopera is an award-winning Colombian writer, historian, speaker and performance artist based in San Francisco. The recipient of the 2014 Jackson Literary award shes the author of Quiéreme (Nomadic Press 2017) and ¡Cuéntamelo! an illustrated bilingual collection of oral histories by LGBT Latinx immigrants which won a 2018 Lambda Literary Award and a 2018 Independent Publisher Book Award. She's received fellowships from Brush Creek Foundation of the Arts, Lambda Literary Foundation, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and The SF Grotto, and an individual artist grant from the SF Arts Commission. She's the recipient of the 2016 Jeanne Córdova Words Scholarship. Her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and has appeared in Eleven Eleven, Foglifter, Four Way Review, Broadly, TimeOut Mag to name a few. ASHA is an Artist, Educator, and Revolutionary. Originally from LA, ASHA is currently an 8th grade teacher in San Jose. She is an international poet, striving to use art to create radical change. ASHA has been featured on the cover of Content Magazine, is a feature at many of the prominent poetry events in the Bay Area, as well as active speaker, emcee, and performer at numerous rallies and marches for civil and human rights. ASHA was the focus of a recent short documentary by KQED ARTS. She was given the Hank Hutchins award by the Santa Clara County Alliance of Black Educators for supporting and advocating for black youth. She is actively training educators across California on equitable practices and building student agency. She is certified as a facilitator through Teaching Tolerance. Her dream is to establish her own K-12 school rooted in restorative justice and social justice based standards. S. Shmee, MA is an intermedia artist, storyteller and educator whose work is driven by a commitment to the creative process and the potential it holds for enrichment. In partnership with kind collaborators at non-profit and community arts centers, Shmee offers art-based interventions at public events and alongside therapeutic and rite of passage practices. These programs use mindfulness, embodiment, and creative play for self-inquiry, story weaving and community building. Shmees original works have been seen at the Bioneers conference, the conference for the International Association for the Study of Dreams, SF Fringe Festival, Cucalores Film Festival, and Figment Arts, among others. In addition to facilitating original and enchanting programs, Shmee supports higher education through curriculum development as adjunct professor, teaching artist, and administrator. With a BA in Film Studies and an MA in Depth Psychology, Shmees passion for storytelling spans from personal narrative to cultural mythology and fosters a commitment to the myriad of tales of our time. https://theartofshmee.weebly.com/
Jessica Semaan is a writer, poet, and performer. Her debut book of poetry, Child of the Moon, was published in early 2019. Jessica finds inspiration in her journey to heal from complex trauma. Born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon, Jessica currently resides in San Francisco, where she is attending CIIS to become a psychotherapist. Jessica is a top writer on the platform Medium with close to 50,000 followers. Prior to following her authentic path of artist and healer, she attended Stanford Business School and founded The Passion Co., an organization that helps people find and pursue their passions. We amplify the voices of new leaders and rebels who are shifting culture and changing the landscape. We also give space and r-e-s-p-e-c-t to longtime feminist activists who did the groundwork and are still powering on to create a more feminist future. From girls to grandmas, we need each other, feed each other, and work best together. Seismic Sisters is a mix of clubhouse, news site, and think tank where you come to get informed, inspired, and invigorated to go back out into the world.
