Dance for Yemen
Spend a happy Saturday afternoon on April 6, dancing and enjoying klezmer music, as well as Yiddish and Sephardic songs. Accompanied by the rollicking Jubilee Klezmer Ensemble, renowned dance instructor Bruce Bierman will lead joyful dancing (even for those who think they dont know how) to klezmer freilachs and Israeli horas, as well as Yemeni dances. Larry Kass will perform haunting and humorous songs from the
Sephardic tradition in the Ladino tongue, with spicy translations.

There will be a silent auction of gift certificates from local vendors, art and photography, books and more. *Checks preferred for the auction.*

A tempting variety of food and non-alcoholic beverages, including JM Rosen Cheesecake will be available for purchase at the event.

Tickets are by donation. Sliding scale of $30 - $100. Please be generous - this is a wonderful cause.

First Presbyterian Church, 939 B Street in Petaluma from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Saturday, April 6. Wheelchair accessible. Tickets also available at the door.  For more information, call or text 707-217-6780.

Instrumentalists are Paul Alexander on clarinet, Sonia Tubridy on accordion, Sarah Jo Zaharako on violin, and Eric Perney on bass.

Information about Doctors Without Borders in Yemen:
https://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/what-we-do/countries/yemen

"The war in Yemen has taken a terrible toll on civilians and pushed the health care system to the brink of collapse. More than half of the countrys medical facilities are closed, and many others are too damaged or lacking in personnel or supplies to provide care.

'Yemenis trying to reach a functioning health care facility might face checkpoints, land mines, or snipers en route. Many people must choose between using scarce funds to pay for medicine or food to feed their families.

'Since the conflict escalated in March 2015, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has significantly expanded activities in Yemen. MSF treated more than 973,000 emergency room patients from March 2015 to October 2018. Teams treated more than 91,000 patients for war wounds and other intentional physical violence over the same period."

From Paul: I would love to see a healthy turnout of friends to support this phenomenal organization. These courageous volunteers -physicians, surgeons, nurses - risk their lives in extremely compromised circumstances, often viewed as enemies by both sides of conflicts because they help everyone without bias or concern for their own safety.
