Books Are Wings' 20th Anniversary Celebration
Books Are Wings, the Pawtucket-based nonprofit whose mission has put more than 500,000 free books in the hands of local children, will host its 20th Anniversary Celebration on Tuesday, May 21 @ 6:00pm at Hope Events on Main, 999 Main Street in Pawtucket. Valet parking will be provided for all guests by United Parking.
The organization invites all members of the community to attend and spend a spring evening celebrating this significant milestone and the work that has made a lasting impact on the education of thousands of local children. Generously sponsored in part by BankRI, Collette, Pawtucket Credit Union, Joyce Ruppell, and Pawtucket Credit Union, and United Way of Rhode Island this fundraiser will help support the advancement of Books Are Wings programs.
Four recipients will be honored at the celebration for their extraordinary commitment to Books Are Wings:
The Legacy of John Carter Jr. - The Legacy Award
Mary "Molly" Clark - The Elizabeth Dennigan Founder's Award
Collette - Volunteers in Service Award
United Way of Rhode Island - The Village Award
Proceeds from the event directly support Books Are Wings and its mission to put free books into the hands of children. This critical mission is driven by efforts such as Books All Year, an intensive citywide effort that brings the organization into the classrooms of partner schools; Books Spots, which stocks designated indoor and outdoor structures with children's books all year long; and Book Request, which provides free books for community events. At the event, guests will have the opportunity to give the gift of literacy by supporting programs like these.
Tickets are $100 per person and a discounted ticket is available for students and nonprofit partners. All tickets are available online at: www.booksarewings.org.
